How To Start A Fire

What does it mean to have a revival? How do we start one? It’s a question with a simple answer, really. You don’t need mathematical formulas or a degree in rocket science to figure it out. A revival starts with one individual who has a heart that is passionate for Christ. Then, that fire spreads to others and starts a chain reaction in the community.

The common mistake about making a revival is assumed it just randomly happens, like after a community disaster. It’s also assumed that revival happens when a large group of people are involved in it. These points are false and will rarely lead to a real revival. Why? First of all, it’s because a revival starts with the individual. Not necessarily with the person in the pulpit or anyone else in a position of leadership, but rather from the individual sitting in the pew… It starts with the individual. It’s also thought that such a revival randomly happens. This is wrong, as a revival happens when a community decides for it to happen. A revival happens when a community decides to live for Christ through a life of purity and honesty. The fire doesn’t randomly start; the fire has to be started. And over time, you can get a bonfire.

So how does the individual have a revival? It’s simple. First of all, be honest with yourself. If you’ve got sin in your life, get rid of it. If you’re not sure if God exists, then question it. If God is there, then he will provide your honest questioning with an honest answer. Make your faith stronger by reading the bible and understanding God’s promises. Have real faith instead of false faith. Keep God first in your life. Love Him with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Then and only then will you start a fire.
